[Manning & Holthuis, 1981; Zariquiey Alvarez, 1968].  Inhabits the coastal zone among stones, on sand and shell rock, among algae, to 25-30 m,  more frequent on the stone breakwaters. Widespread in the Black Sea. Holthuis (1961)  records it from the coast of Turkey for the first time; Volkanov (1938, 1957) - for the Varna  Bay and Sozopol.
