Xantho poressa (Olivi, 1792) Black Sea
Range. “The species inhabits the entire Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the Canary Islands.”
[Holthuis & Gottlieb, 1958, p. 93]. Widely distributed along the Crimea and the Caucasus
coasts. Recorded from the Bulgaria and Turkey coasts. [Kobjakova & Dolgopolskaya, 1969,
p. 296].
In the Black Sea it is common near shore line at a depth less than 1 m, mainly under stones on
pebble and crushed rock; more rare on the other bottoms to 15 m. [Kobjakova &
Dolgopolskaya, 1969, p. 296].
